MacKenzie was raised on Nova Scotia's south shore and she feels deeply connected to its landscape, culture, and heritage. After studying at NSCAD University in Halifax, focusing on sculpture and form, she transitioned into Heritage Carpentry at NSCC Bridgewater, where she gained practical knowledge of current and past building practice. She entered the workforce building custom residential properties on the south shore, gaining hands-on experience with applications of modern-day building techniques and materials. MacKenzie also has a keen interest in accessibility and how it can impact people’s experience of their environment.
